Dougy, an 8-year-old Maltese with impeccable manners and a kind heart, is ready to meet his forever person or people.
A former puppy mill resident, this well-mannered fellow now enjoys all the comforts of a peaceful home — snoozing in his foster’s bedroom, lounging on the couch, and going for gentle strolls. He’s fully house trained, crate trained, and great on leash and in the car. Think of him as the perfect partner for laid-back coffee dates, lazy mornings, and cozy movie nights.
Dougy may be a senior, but he still has plenty of pep and personality. He jumps when excited and definitely has his playful moments. He’s a smart boy who loves his treats and knows his “sit,” “spin,” and “shake paw” tricks — proof that you can teach an old dog new moves! Ever the attentive companion, Dougy will politely alert you if someone’s at the door, but he much prefers quiet households where he can feel safe and adored.
He gets along beautifully with kids, select (male and female) dogs. While he can be a little shy meeting new people, some kind words and gentle affection quickly win him over. Grooming time (minus the ear cleaning part!) is a-ok for Dougy...after all a gentleman has to look his best.

Please note Dougy is on Ursodiol and Denamarin for liver support and will require the supplements for the remainder of his life to keep him healthy and happy. Repeat bloodwork will be required to ensure he is responding well to the supplements.
Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption. Local adopters can take advantage of 50% off a training course at Ruff Haus in Barrie (www.ruffhaus.ca) and all adopters will also be signed up for Petcademy to offer 30 days of free text-based behavioural support.
