Meet Maizie – Brave Girl Bound for Better Days
Maizie has come a long way from her puppy mill beginnings, trading her old life for a new adventure full of discovery, patience, and love. This gentle girl is still a bit wary of the big world, but she’s showing more courage every single day. Her ears have healed beautifully, and with that healing has come a happier spark — one that shines brightest when she’s out on the trail or chasing her toy during a game of indoor fetch.
Around the house, Maizie is settling in nicely. She’s fully house-trained, lets you know when she needs to go out, and sleeps soundly through the night in her crate beside her foster family’s bed. She loves to be near her person, soaking up quiet affection, though being picked up still makes her nervous. When left loose during the day, she’ll happily lounge on the couch, often using the dog steps to hop up and wait for her people to come home.
Maizie enjoys her walks on forest trails, though busy parking lots can still feel overwhelming. She’s curious on leash but careful — the world is still new to her. Training and gentle socialization will help her continue to build trust and confidence. This smart girl has a bit of an opportunistic streak — she’s learned that food is wonderful and will sometimes “borrow” a treat if it’s left unattended on a table or counter.
Maizie latches on to her person (in this case her foster mom) and can be hesitant about bonding with others. She’s also selective about other dogs and still doesn’t feel confident approaching new people, but she’s learning that gentle voices and patience can lead to good things. With time, Maizie will continue to blossom into the cheerful, adventurous companion she’s meant to be.
