I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Lia

We're happy to tell you that Lia has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Lia is a 6-year-old Bichon Frise with a gentle heart that has grown braver every day since entering foster care. She can be shy and fearful when faced with new people or unfamiliar situations, but with patience, kindness, and time, Lia has blossomed into a sweet little companion who is beginning to discover how wonderful life in a loving home can be. Watching her confidence grow has been one of the greatest joys of her foster family's journey with her.

Lia enjoys the company of other dogs and has formed a beautiful bond with her foster sister. They are often found curled up together, and having a calm canine companion has helped Lia gain confidence in so many new experiences. She now happily joins her foster on walks, enjoys sniffing alongside her foster dog sister, greets friendly dogs, and has even started initiating play with a neighbourhood dog. Lia is housetrained, rides well in the car, walks politely on leash, and has become increasingly affectionate with the people she trusts, happily accepting chest rubs, gentle pets, and even sneaking onto the bed at night for cuddles.

Lia still approaches the world thoughtfully and appreciates being allowed to move at her own pace. She can be cautious with strangers at first, but she has made tremendous progress, now choosing to approach people for a gentle sniff instead of running away. New loud noises can still startle her, and she does not enjoy being left completely alone, often feeling much more secure when another dog is with her. While she has no formal obedience training, Lia has shown just how much she can learn when given patience, gentle encouragement, and positive reinforcement.

Lia's ideal home is a calm, understanding one that will continue building her confidence while celebrating all the little milestones along the way. A friendly, well-adjusted dog companion would be a wonderful match, as she truly thrives with another dog by her side. Because she is naturally timid, she would do best with older, respectful children who can give her the space and patience she needs to settle in. In return, Lia will reward her family with quiet companionship, gentle affection, and the incredible privilege of watching a once-frightened dog discover what it means to feel completely safe and loved.
