Bronco is a 2-year-old Beagle-Shih Tzu mix from Moose Cree First Nation with a big personality packed into a small body. He is a happy, playful little guy who loves being involved in whatever his people are doing and has quickly become a favorite in his foster home. Whether he’s tossing his toy around in excitement or burrowing into blankets for cuddles, Bronco brings lots of fun and affection wherever he goes. Although Bronco loves children, he can love them a little too much and may become overly protective of them around guests in the home. Because of his tendency to guard children, he would be best suited to an adult-only home.
Bronco is housetrained, crate trained, and doing well with obedience training, already learning “sit” and showing he enjoys working with his people. Around the house, he is affectionate and loyal, happily following his humans everywhere like the ultimate little sidekick. He gets along with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship, especially with dogs who match his confident personality. Bronco occasionally guards adults from other dogs in the household when they are sharing cuddle time on the couch. For this reason, his future family should be prepared to continue managing and working on these behaviors to help him feel secure and successful in his home.
Bronco does have a strong, confident streak and likes to make his opinions known, especially if he hears noises or notices someone at the front door. He can be a little unsure around new men at first and benefits from patience, calm introductions, and space to warm up on his own terms. He may also try to sneak unattended snacks if given the opportunity, so keeping food out of reach will be important for this clever little guy. Bronco requires proper introductions with new dog friends, but he quickly warms up and loves a good game of chase. Due to his interest in smaller animals like chickens, a home without small pets would be best.
Bronco would thrive in a home that appreciates his playful spirit, confidence, and affectionate nature. He would love a family who will continue his training, provide structure and boundaries, and include him in everyday life. In return, Bronco promises endless companionship, entertainment, and a warm snuggle buddy who always wants to be close to his people.
