Meet Dexter, a 9 month old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix who’s equal parts adorable, chaos, and couch cuddler. Surrendered when his first family realized they weren’t quite ready for puppy energy, Dexter is now on the lookout for an active home that can match his zest for life.
This sturdy little guy barrels up stairs at top speed, greets everyone like a celebrity, and doesn’t believe in personal space—especially with other dogs, (he's just so excited!). He’s got enthusiasm by the bucketload, a habit of puppy mouthing, and a special talent for weaving on leash like he’s training for a parade. At the vet, he finds it hard to sit still (Dexter insists the exam is his performance, not theirs). Puppy training will be essential for this little one to help him become the superstar companion we know he can be! Dexter will do best in a home with older children or adults only but he would love another canine buddy, even if it's a neighbour dog to play with!
Inside, he eventually collapses into cuddle mode—though he can’t actually get on or off the couch by himself yet. He’s still working on house training, wears a belly band to prevent marking around the house, and has strong opinions about going outside in the rain. Crates aren’t his favourite, but once inside, he settles. Dexter loves his toys, his food, car rides (once lifted in), and the occasional slipper, but has shown no destructive streak so far.
With his quick learning, affectionate nature, and pure goofball charm, Dexter will thrive with a family ready for training, playtime, and lots of walks. Bonus: he comes fully equipped with his bed, collar, and toys—just bring patience, belly rubs, and maybe an umbrella.
