Surrendering a dog should be a last resort after having exhausted all other options as this is a very stressful and confusing experience for all dogs. Please keep in mind that we do not have the foster space or resources to accept all owner surrenders. We do charge a surrender fee to help cover the costs involved with preparing the dog for adoption. The surrender fee for dogs who are up to date on vaccinations AND spayed/neutered is $100 and for dogs who are not yet up to date on vaccines AND/OR not yet spayed/neutered the surrender fee is $150. If you would like to inquire about whether we are able to accept your dog in our rescue program please complete the following questionnaire in full. Once we have reviewed your surrender request a volunteer will contact you to schedule a behaviour assessment to ensure your dog is suitable for our rescue program.
If you have decided to re-home your dog yourself please be sure to properly screen all potential homes and never give a dog away for free. If you would like advice on screening potential homes please reach out to us. Remember that bringing your dog to a public shelter such as the OSPCA is always better than giving your dog to someone that you do not trust.
